What if my customer doesn't have crypto?
Then they pay how they normally would. Coinpay sits alongside the rest of your checkout, not instead of it. Adding the crypto option just lets you reach customers who do prefer to pay that way — a fast-growing chunk, especially internationally — without losing the rest.
Is this even legal in the UK?
Yes. Coinpay is registered with the FCA as a crypto-asset service provider. Every payment generates a clean GBP record for your bookkeeping, taxes are handled the same way as any card payment, and we keep all the regulatory compliance bits behind the scenes so you don't have to think about them.
What if the crypto price drops between payment and conversion?
It doesn't affect what you receive. The amount your customer pays is locked at the live rate the moment they hit "pay" and converted instantly. You get the GBP figure you were quoted — the price-volatility risk sits with us, not you.
Do I need to do my taxes differently?
No. Because every Coinpay payment lands in your account as GBP, HMRC sees it the same as any card payment. We provide CSV exports that drop straight into Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent and Sage — same workflow as any other payment processor.
How long until I get my money?
Most payments arrive in your UK bank account by the next working day, via Faster Payments. Some chains confirm in seconds, others take a few minutes — but the GBP transfer to your bank goes out as soon as we've confirmed. No 3-day hold, no rolling reserve.
What if there's a problem with a payment?
Crypto payments don't get charged back the way card payments do — the funds, once confirmed, are yours. If a customer disputes a sale (e.g. they didn't get what they ordered), you handle it the same way you would for a cash sale: directly with them.
